How to Celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day 2019

Looking for ways to participate in the industry’s global day of advocacy? It’s not too late to get involved! Consider the five ideas below, inspired by GMID 2018 activities.

1. Rally for Meetings

Stage a public event with local officials, meetings industry professionals, association members, destination marketing organization leaders.

  • Create speeches and signage that amplify key messages about the meetings industry.
  • Register your event here and promote it across social media using #GMID19.
  • Publicize your event among local industry professionals and reporters using our free resources.

2. Request an official Meetings Day Proclamation

Ask your governor, mayor, city council member, county executive or minister of tourism to proclaim April 4, 2019 Meetings Industry Day in your town, state or country.

  • Save time by using our template proclamation.
  • Once secured, invite reporters and local industry chapters to publicly recognize the proclamation.
  • Share the news on social media using #GMID19.
  • Partner with the participating elected official(s) to place a complementary op-ed on the industry’s value for government leaders.

3. Host an Educational Event

Recruit a guest lecturer or panel of speakers to lead an educational or networking session.

  • Use the video to kick off your GMID event.

5. Present an Award
